Preparatory Action for Security Research

The TRIPS project addresses security in mainline, subway or metro railways systems. Enhancing security to improve the protection of railway systems poses many challenges in the mission of protection of the EU citizens against terrorism. The project will investigate possibilities offered by technology and improved processes to deliver innovative solutions that improve reactions and increase the effectiveness of security measures for the protection of passengers and infrastructure. The recent events in London and in Madrid show how vulnerable public transport systems are to terrorist attacks.
